About our Board of Directors
ElderHelp board members are leaders in San Diego who care about our mission of supporting seniors as they age with dignity and independence. These leaders are responsible for the overall governance, financial oversight, and strategic direction of ElderHelp’s operations. Board Members work in the community to increase awareness about issues in aging and how ElderHelp’s programs and services are meeting these needs.
Generally comprised of 11-15 members, the ElderHelp Board meets 8 times annually and are active with ElderHelp’s events and fundraising campaigns. Board members are also involved in separate committee meetings.
Building our Leadership Team
ElderHelp is in the process of selecting new board and committee leaders who are passionate about caring for San Diego seniors. We are seeking a diverse group of individuals representing a variety of lived experiences, ages, geographic regions, backgrounds, perspectives, and identities. ElderHelp encourages nominations for candidates of all genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and socio-economic backgrounds.
We welcome candidates who are passionate about our mission and possess any combination of the following skills/characteristics:
- Bilingual (Spanish language speaking skills)
- Caregiver experience
- Experience or interest in philanthropic work
- Experience serving on nonprofit boards
- Healthcare knowledge
- Leadership in community building and corporate connections
- Legal expertise
- Marketing/communications expertise
- Information Technology expertise
- “Seasoned” citizens (age 60+)
- Young professionals (30s-40s)
- Live or work in North County or South County (San Diego)
Timeline
Board nominations were accepted through July 1, 2024. Interviews will be conducted July-September with elections occurring in October. New board member orientation begins in January 2025.
