There are over 44 million family caregivers providing unpaid assistance and support to older adults. Many of these individuals don’t realize they are caregivers. This course defines the complex and dynamic role and provides you with the knowledge to understand the basics of family caregiving.
COURSE 2: FAMILY CENTERED CARE PLANNING
ASSESSING YOUR NEEDS
Caring for a loved one is a team effort. This course provides you with tools to help identify your loved one’s care needs. You will learn how creating a plan can help you develop a team of others who can support you and your loved one.
COURSE 3: SELF-CARE IN ACTION
CREATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF
We all know the importance of healthy habits, but making time for yourself can be difficult when you’re caring for someone else. This course introduces the concept of self-care and helps you to understand why it’s so important. You will also hear from four family caregivers who share their real life strategies for self-care.
COURSE 4: WHEN YOUR LOVED ONE HAS DEMENTIA
RESOURCES FOR MEMORY LOSS
One out of nine people over the age of 65 has dementia. This increases to one out of three people for those over the age of 85. This course provides an overview of dementia as well as critical information including communication tips and other effective dementia care strategies.
